Development

Taken in 2024 at Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan. With government funding and poverty alleviation programs, the region underwent a huge wave of development and change over the past decades. A Hani Senior was resting near the local Ancient City (Mabang Old Town), while staring at the modern buildings far away. Nowadays, fewer young people wear the traditional clothes she was in.

Jino Goddess of Creation

Jino is the 56th ethnic group in China, officially recognized as a national minority in 1979. Jino means "descendents of the uncle." Many Jino people reside in what is known as "Jino Village," a residential area by a hill. This image shows a sculpture of Jino's Goddess in the village. The Goddess of creation is the most respected deity in the Jino culture. It's a mother figure; in fact, Jino traditionally has a matriarchal society.

I also explored media formats besides video. Audio editing has similarities to video production. However, I took extra consideration to construct a coherent auditory experience
