Development

Taken in 2024 at Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan. The region underwent a wave of development and changes over the past decades. A Hani Senior was staring at the building far away. Nowadays, fewer young people wear the traditional clothes she was in.

Water Festival (1)

Taken in 2025 at Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture. The Water Festival is traditionally celebrated by the Dai people during their New Year. This traditional ceremony had been adapted into an entertainment program at tourist attractions. It is certainly amusing for many tourists. However, as a tourist, I also sensed a loss of traditional cultural elements in this popularized version of Water Festival (quite disappointing personally).
